day with the emu egg extravaganza

it was a late night for ocean and elli . . . just couldn't fall asleep last night. it was an early morning for phoenix this morning . . . nothing unusual here. however, this makes for 3 of us slightly sleepy thoughout the day and for necessary mellow time intentionally set aside. we decided this was the perfect morning . . . nice and mellow . . . to expose the insides of the emu egg that has been stashed in the back of our fridge for months now. it was cool. it was kind of gross. it was fun. it smelled bad. it took a tremendous amount of lung power. did i mention it was stinky. it was green outside and in (perfect for green egg's and ham jokes). the yoke was thick. the shell was thick. it was interesting.

the girls also made their own pancakes. they read, measured, poured, sifted, cracked, sprinkled, and flipped. then they ate. the more they make themselves the more they eat. it wasn't really until they started cracking and frying or scrambling their own eggs that they really enjoy eating eggs. They are very proud of their pancake making and hope to do it again in the near future (maybe even in the morning).

we went to a coffeeshop. we played a new game, sort of like hangman only nobody dies. we played at a park called hocus pocus. we rented two movies. we ate rice pasta. we (or, i should say, they) will soon lumber off to bed.
