the mermaid run (5k)

it was fun. had a great running partner (yes, the wee one in the jogger). the weather couldn't have been better. it was beautiful (view of the s.f. bay and an incredible wildlife refuge)....and i finished. what more could a beginning runner ask for? the whole 'all women' event was the best. cheering one another on along the way. chatting about our precious babes and how they add to our lives. encouraging, inspiring, motivating. i am so glad i did it and didn't listen to that not so quiet voice in my head early this morning that said..."too early sarah, just go back to sleep, pretend like you have forgotten about this run today, go to sleep, you can run here from home, go to sleep"....i look forward to participating in more of this mermaid series. there is a triathlon and a dual triathlon a bit more local later this year...we'll see if i get that far...i may simply stick to the 5k/10k range this year.....i just loved that it was ALL women and the only men there seemed to be so supportive facilitating the little ones around to cheer for momma and they themselves being very encouraging....big smiles, clapping, cheering and all around great.
(this photo is right at the finish line...about 5 more strides and i was through the arch)
