some sewing.

the fog lifted for mother's day. i was present with my littles. it was so fun to just be with them, watch and admire them....i was filled with gratitude. what a privilege to be their momma.

some sewing has been happening around here. after being gone and busy straight away coming back we have all needed to just be home. the girls played all day....transforming themselves from knights of the round table to pirates to babies to construction workers. they played i sewed. made a little picnic throw out of an old rectangle table cloth from kmart a few years back. added some pockets on each corner for treasures, napkins or sand to hold it down on the beach...the denyse schmidt quilting book had that idea....made two matching napkins (inspired by the lotta jansdotter book)....before heading out the door for our one outing, dance, we remembered the girls friend who just welcomed a baby sister into her family, so i made this little bib for her. (i was inspired by a bib that was given to me when i was a wee babe....olive, isn't that a sweet name. after dinner i was needing a little alone time so i headed back to the pink room again for some more bib making....two more to be exact. there are photos over on flickr of these things. (www.flickr.com/photos/the-mer-family/) i don't know who i will gift these bibs to, but now they will just be on hand i suppose for giving. i started making the top of a picnic throw for our family yesterday....it made me realize i have a hard time keeping and much prefer gifting.....don't get me wrong, it isn't that i am such a nice person that i think *only* of others....oh no! i have a hard time looking at all the things i could have done different or better, ect...ect....and i am sure if things turned out they way my mind planned i would want to keep the nice ones for me. gosh, i'm kind of a jerk. :) and maybe i need to get over that little perfectionist side.....but really to even say i am a perfectionist is funny.....because it would be a few random things that it affects and the rest, well, let it blow to the wind.....whatever is fine....be efficient, be quick, get it done. that's why i don't fold laundry, i just stuff it on shelves and in drawers. i don't seperate colors and whites or towels, it just all goes in at one time. car....smells. shelves....dusty. recipes....aren't followed. wow. ramblings....

i think it is time for some javalanche frozen yogurt with a few sundrops sprinkled on the top.
