the other day we were running errands in town. as we pulled into the trader joe's parking lot we saw a good friend of ours, she asked if we could stop by really quick over at her place. we bought our snacks for the hour drive home and popped in over at their home. she and i chatted about her recent trip to mexico and she shared with me some very fun gifts from her travels: a really cool bag, some bowls and small serving plate. little did i know that as we were chatting away in the kitchen her husband and boys were outside with my family strapping this beautiful cabinet onto our car. while she was in mexico, he built a few cabinets each with antique window doors and one was a gift to us!!! (can you believe it!!! a gift!!!) it is amazing, perfect, beautiful and i am totally speechless, truely!

at this point it sits by the entry of our home, it holds our ever changing stack of library books and displays our gatherings from nature walks and explorations.

  1. What a fantastic gift!
That's exactly what I'd like to do with a couple of old windows from my MIL's house in St. Louis, minus the red paint, but now you've got me thinking about paint colors. But, you know how the saying goes: the cobbler's children have no shoes, and the cabinetmaker's wife has no... (Just kidding, really.)
