motherhood the way i'm seein' it

in lue of the desire to hone my photography skills (or lack thereof) i have decided to start a little photo project of my own. i am sure many of you have seen '3191: a year of mornings' or their current 'year of evenings', or 'six one way', or the 'noticing project', or if you've explored much on flickr countless '30 day's of living' sets. as i have been thinking about it, my desire was to start on feburary first. ideas would roll out of my mouth to my husband, but nothing quite felt right. i thought maybe i should just do one of these ideas: our green winter, mornings, evenings, my children, corners of my home, ect....but then the last two days a couple different photos caught my eye that i was able to capture. this and this. it hit me yesterday what i wanted to do. motherhood the way i'm seein' it. here. today. this moment in my life. holding my baby, big girl. tucking her into her big bed for the very first time. the face of my tired, cranky, puffy eyed, allergy ridden 9 year old. a hand in mine. their feet. their eyes. dirty laundry. unmade beds. i am not promising a photo a day, or three a week. i am just putting it out there that i am starting a little project. it's a window to my soul. it's for me, but i hope you can enjoy it.

  1. that's awesome. i love all the deliberate subject focused projects like this floating around lately. it's a real shift in perspective to think about some certain aspect and to attempt to do it every day, or for some clump of time, is a beneficial discipline, i think. i started to do a whole year of freya (which is cheating a little, because she's my easiest subject, the younger one is harder to catch!), starting with her birthday, but then i forgot by the second day. maybe i'll still do it, or something similar. anyway, this is just to say that i'm looking forward to seeing your pictures!

  3. that's great april. the second day. still do it. it is a special year....nine and all. a whole year, that's a big ambition, what a time capsule it would be one day! a treasure to be sure. you could always join me with motherhood as *you* see it, it would be fun to see the similarities and differences.....just throwin' it out there.
