my 3rd nephew was born today. judah zion. 2:20am. i had the pleasure of attending his home birth arrival. not as a doula, but as a sissy and photographer. it was amazing. it was surreal. it was beautiful. i'm going on not very much sleep at all for the past 48 hours, but it is worth it. i was in heaven holding him for about an hour between 4am and 5....then again on and off from 8am til i headed home at around noon. hanging out with his 3 older siblings was so sweet. his little big sister, 2 years old, and i had some very special time together. she and i haven't spent much time with one another, it was special and i will treasure it. the 2 hour drive home took 3. i think i was in a weird zone and driving slower than normal. i will share a photo or two later....sometime. right now, i am going to go and snuggle with my girls while we all fall asleep.

happy sleeping. it sounds like you deserve a long rest! so nice for you to be there for your family. i love the after glow that follows attending a birth - life is hazy, buzzing and moving at warp speed for me during those times and i love it.
ReplyDeletecan you believe i've never seen a birth? but i don't have to imagine to know how powerful and brilliant it would be. what a great experience for you!
