p o n d

i'm realizing the pond needs a name. "pond" just doesn't express the magic and serenity it brings. only around in full glory a few months out of the year, right now it's prime, we can't get enough of it. frogs croaking us to sleep, newts crossing our path calling for a rescue before the fedex driver forgets to swerve, ducks setting up nest, anticipation of ducklings, the simple movement of liquid. love.

  1. i think it should be called, "Dorothy's Pond."
i imagine Dorothy Hammer in her younger years as a mother spending many hours lingering, listening, and daydreaming, while caught in the serenity of the pond. i'd like to think there were even a few warm summer nights that her and some kindred-spirited friends slipped quietly into the pond, holding back screams and giggles as they took a late night skinny dip. ;)

  5. would love to dangle my feet in dorothy's pond right about now. it is scorching here. enjoy the peace and the froggy and cricket sounds before the camp is overrun by other critter sounds in a few weeks.
