the family cheered. she beamed. my heart swelled as she read her first whole book, solo. no pressure, no prompting.

nonchalant, she pointed out her most loved piece in her most recently finished novel:

"She thought to herself, 'This is now.'
She was glad that the cosy house, and Pa and Ma and the fire-light and the music, were now. They could not be forgotten, she thought, because now is now. It can never be a long time ago."
[excerpt from Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder]

there is no time like now.
now is now.
wonderful wonderful now.

i’m not sure how to put this month into a learning log, nor how it would all measure up on a standardized test. some may look at what we do and think time is being wasted. oh, beans in a bucket, i don't care. the time we enjoy wasting is not wasted time in the least. it's time of self discovery, accomplishment, independence, mistakes, practice, patience, trust, fun, life.

time is open. time is now. time is free.
time is a gift.

our days are full.

meaningFUL.
powerFUL.
beautiFUL.
down-right delightFUL.

(enjoy now & remember, there is no room for guilt.)

  3. Love you! And your time is certainly not wasted. You all have some of the most FULL experiences I've ever seen. You may think we have an exciting life with all our world travels, but I look at you all, gaze at your photos, read both of your words and think, "Wow! What an amazing and unique life they get to have in the forest."

PS: whoever it was on Facebook that mentioned wanting some of your prints? I think they're on to something. You have such a gift for both art and photography. They are exactly the kinds of things I would hang on my wall. xxxooo
