solstice to solstice: winter [12.13-cold]

as i look back on photos with the word cold in mind i am challenged to find anything but knitting. there are definitely times when i have been cold. i can think of many many moments this past year where my hands were too cold to knit or i felt so cold i ran to get back into the house or nights so cold i slept in my down sleeping bag under the down comforter under the cotton quilt under the wool hudson bay. i don't have photo evidence of those moments, but i do have photographs of these moments. moments so amazing and magical it didn't matter how cold it was single digits or below zero.

the first two photos are from a trip to glacier national park for a friends wedding. we had one full day, the day of her wedding to be at the park, so on our drive out we went for a hike. it was cold and rainy and totally worth it. the memories we built from that one 4 mile hike are priceless. or the second two photos: my first and only time fly fishing with one of my brothers on a visit to colorado last year. we caught almost 30 fish! no fish tale here. when i caught my first fish i didn't think before i reached in the water with my glove on to pick it up. oops. freezing cold hand.

this week ruminate on the word cold.

maybe you have one?
perhaps your packed in with snow.
how are you staving it off?
or maybe even enjoying it?!

tomorrow, if all goes as planned, i'll be submerging myself in it.
