the night before, they begged and batted their eyelashes to get up and go to the first polar bear swim of the summer. Phoenix was up and out of bed so fast dressed, with bathing suit on too. she came in my room declaring her 'wide awakeness' only to sit on the bed, lay down, pull up the covers and fall back asleep within seconds. precious little sleepy head. i woke her back up and we all walked in.
the pool was so full of campers & their counselors that a rotation was needed on which cabins could be in at a time. we watched the silly "water aerobic" antics (aka: splashing) and the running water whirl pool. there was a quick dip by O to ride the current though so quick her long locks kept dry. hot cocoa was made and after everyone cleared the pool area Phoenix hopped in (and quickly out). Elli dipped her toes without even pulling her sweats up.
they said it was worth it even just to be in camp for breakfast.
i asked next time if we could just get up for breakfast.
(but i'm glad too that we went . . .)
