a moment of grand proportion.
a moment that looked more like 20 minutes.
a twenty minute moment of hemming, hawing, screeching, squealing, laughing, gagging, questioning, doubting, consulting, remembering, imagining & freaking.

i held a worm.
photo documentation is nil. everything fairly blurry due to the huge hurdle i was leaping over by holding a worm. lots of wiggling and squirming. the worm was holding pretty still, but whatever. my friend hil, witness to this milestone, thought maybe i killed it. shocked it to death with my nervous laughing and eeking. worms and mice people, they are my 'things'. i can not do worms and mice. however, i've mentioned before the desire for title gardener in my repertoire. no gardener can have such a fierce aversion to the amazing creature called worm. they are so so good for the earth. being the sensory sensitive gal that i am, i can not recall a time this fierce aversion wasn't present. the soft squishy texture, the wriggling... it's the perfect scenario for the infamous tagline 'it's not you, it's me'.
dear worm, so meek and mild, it's not you. it's me!
since we're talking milestones here...this morning, just as we were about to head out the door for the day, i spied a (dead) mouse (though i didn't know it was dead for a split second) and didn't jump up on a chair.
a big week.
So proud Sarah. ;)
ReplyDeleteyou are a brave woman!
ReplyDeleteoh wow. TWO huge milestones. Never knew the first, yet a great one to conquer with the title gardner. way to over come your fears...and the dead mouse...in your house? That is disgusting and I would have jumped on a chair! :)
ReplyDeleteLove worms, hate mice. You're on your way to being a fantastic gardener. Great job worm handling!
