solstice to solstice [spring. 12-13 & prompt 13-13]

i am floored, absolutely astounded,
truly surprised at how quickly this past week flew by.

really! where did it go?

13 june

though there was no wow'ing myself with any physical feats nor any blossoming of brilliant ideas (necessarily) there were unexpected moments of gifted surprise.  i was surprised to find that the knitting  patterned i'm working on is one such pattern i can only do in the quiet of my home. i was surprised at what a difference paint makes.

i was surprised to find that the two times i needed to wake before 5AM to get to the gym i wasn't walking dead or sour grapes by noon.  i was surprised when, though i set the alarm for a quick nap, i was able to (in my sleep) reset it again for twice the time rather than pressing snooze over and over again (like normal).  i was surprised by the kind words from a new(er) friend.

i was surprised when the birds' song caught my attention and when my eyes caught sight of the unique winged beauty and though it was gone up high in the trees beyond my lens or eye when i came back camera in hand i could still follow it and walk through the woods connected to that one fine feathered friend just by listening. i was surprised by the generosity of my children.

d i r t

i was surprised at how much time i was able to find to slip into the back yard and work on the preparation of getting our raised beds ready for planting in the midst of staff orientation.  i was surprised by the mere thought of even holding a worm. (really, i know i will never be able to have the title gardener if i don't come to terms with the worms.)  i was surprised by many of the midnight backpacking stories shared and can't wait for that girl to wake up and tell me more.  lastly i am surprised that this week before us is our last week of spring!  wednesday, june 20th is the first day of summer (hoot holler fist pump)!

. . . . . . . . . .

this weeks' final spring word is  l i f e .
