the water color painting is in full swing around here.
inspiration from seeing a photograph of the Iris Nebulae to the story telling and history of Humphrey the Whale (though we've misplace our copy of the children's book). have you ever wondered where the San Francisco bay water turns from salty to fresh? when we crossed over the Martinez/Benicia bridge last week we wondered and have still only come up with muddled murky answers, i think rightly so...it would be an interesting science experiment, water sampling your way up through the bay, beautiful too.
Elli is fascinated by nebula right now and she creatively used sea salt sprinkled on her painting to give the illusion of stars. it worked perfectly. we needed to crack open the new paints just for white. seems white is the color, not color, that gets used up the fastest!
. . . . . . . . . .
next up, fade.
(fade?! what where we thinking?)
My daughter loves the Humphrey story too and we stumbled on the children's book at a thrift store. While my kids have never lived near the Bay, they love this story from mine and my husband's childhood.
ReplyDeleteYour Color photo is lovely. Going from Color to Fade does seem a bit drastic but autumn is full of contrasts so it works.
