shelter. chill. comfort. scent. light.
i'm playing a little catch up right now while we continue to have power during this torrential rain storm passing over us.
shelter.
last week as i was driving with my mom between northern minnesota and central colorado this word kept surfacing in my mind. looking across the rolling hills and bare farmlands of ending autumn came small clusters of trees, a home in the center, shelter. seemed too small a barrier for the grand scope that is mother nature...she found in all her glory come mid-winter and early spring.

. . . . . . . . . .
chill.
the gift of the first snowstorm on thanksgiving day. big giant flakes drifting down during our delicious thanksgiving meal. surrounded by extended family, just like old times. cousin jay confirmed the forecast of snow and was confident it would stick. i'm so thankful he was right. i felt like a kid giddy with delight, anticipating the morning frolic through the white wonderland. i had expected cold and began preparing for it, knitting leg warmers to keep the chill at bay. final weaving in took place at the airport, just in time to keep covered. covered in wool covered by snow.

. . . . . . . . . .
this week's prompt is comfort.
yesterday i found myself under wet, dark and dreary skies shadowed by the giant redwoods. the moon was so bright and full but only small slivers shone through. we must go outside, rain or shine to find the light and unless i'm in a lake, river or ocean i'd like to keep dry. i need to keep dry... sort of like some people need coffee in the morning. you will find me comfortably under an umbrella, in my rain jacket, donning a rain skirt, puddle jumping (or walking the dog or on a hot chocolate run to the dining hall) in red wellies (unless my dear first born has stolen them to puddle jump too, then i'll be tip-toeing in my red backs).

where do you find comfort? how do you provide yourself with it? how do you provide others with it? look and perhaps you'll find a creative process within this theme you didn't even realize was there.
. . . . . . . . . .
this leaves us with two prompts left for the year:
scent & light
(i see some baking & candle stick making in my future!)
Amazing photos, as usual.
ReplyDeleteDo you have pattern for those cozy leg warmers? I would love to give them a shot.
Thanks! :)
prompts! lucky me for reading this! catching up while hanging poetry on trees today and figuring out where the preservation ship is sailing. thank you xoxo
