moments.
lots and lots of moments, the tiny details in the days of life...
...a quote was shared this week in my inbox:
"Life is not significant details, illuminated by a flash, fixed forever. Photographs are." ~Susan Sontag
there are many many moments in my life where i've thought to myself, 'self, remember this moment, these details of how you feel. the cold! the bitter cold on the chairlift. the comfort! the most comfortable position ever to fall asleep in. the reassurance, the laughter, the look.'
i remember wanting to remember things, but i only actually remember the bitter cold on the chairlift at powder ridge during night ski with my youth group when i wanted to be 'cool' so i wore jeans to ski in...oh, i was cool alright.
anyway, all those other 5,679,498,390,341 times i thought REMEMBER! ...i've forgotten.

enter my camera. the tool which gets me to capture those details, those fleeting moments that make up life and help me remember. remembering how just last year it was also 75 and sunny and we were basking in the glow or our connection in loss, our laughter and comfort in togetherness, or today my feelings of peace.
life is fleeting. the days zoom by. suddenly our babies are 14, 27 or 42!
i'm gathering these details up like a crazy cat lady.
i want it fixed forever.
oh, sarah. yes, so true. i think i will remember, but i am a crazy woman who can't even remember why i walked into the kitchen... yes. the camera. and some good quotes. maria said yesterday "mom, books are like my inhaler. i really couldn't live without them." i love writing down their quotes and i wish i did it more often.
