more gifting...

sunhats for two friends....one is having a birthday today... the other is leading a trip to mexico (hot... hopefully sunny... mexico) with about 100 people (mostly high schoolers) to build some homes for families. even with the drizzle of rain we are getting today, we live in a fairly 100% sunny place....these should be perfect to keep the skin young, wrinkle and cancer free on my friends. the pattern is from 'lotta jansdotter simple sewing' book it is actually pretty quick to make. one of the hats i made last night after the girls were sound asleep. this morning i made the other one. it was nice. i told the fam, "i will be in the pink room with my earphones in listening to music as i sew... if you need me, don't call my name, i won't hear....." occasionally one of the girls would come and listen on one of the earphones with me, but mostly i had time alone. it was a nice way to start the morning.....a little tracy chapman and india arie....sewing for a friend....sipping some hazelnut coffee. mmm.

perhaps my bliss isn't simply coming from creating, giving, listening, and sipping. as a matter of fact, i know it's not. we bought tickets last night that will take us to hawaii. it was going to be just eric and i, but i know myself too well that i would be concerned about phoenix the WHOLE time....not old enough to really communicate what she needs, likes or loathes. so tickets for three. eric, fi and me. o and e are excited about spending a week with some of our married friends with no children. ocean and elli say they are 'wild grown ups'....they play fun and eat a lot of food (that is what first qualified them for a good pick in their minds to stay with). now comes the planning and logistics of this whole spontaneous trip....where should we camp....who will pick up and drop off the girls while our friends work/taking them to and from classes....what is the minimum amount of diapers i should bring....how much money should we leave for ocean and elli to do fun special things with our friends....how will i entertain phoenix on a 5 hour flight? oh the fun!! BOB (my bosom friend who lives over there right now) i can hardly wait to see you!!!!!! okay... time to tidy up this house we call home.
