as i scramble around the house gathering up the things we will need on our trip i keep reminding myself to slow down, why rush, no need to hurry, there's time. i noticed yesterday that the little phrase "hurry up" has snuck (is that a word?)back into my vocab. something i was working on getting out. why let it be there? who needs to hurry? what's the rush?? sure, sometimes we have something going on....meeting friends or a class of some sort, but why rush and hurry. we were on a schedule all summer....getting to this meeting or activity or meal, but that's over and i need to get our happenings back to a rhythm rather than schedule. i think i just need to try and be a bit more prepared in advance, wake up a little earlier (eek!), remember it's not the end of the world to be a little late. now, don't get me wrong, it is very valuable to me to be on time to things, BUT like i said before, it won't be the end of the world.
so while we are north i will practice (once again) to scrape "hurry up", "quickly", ect.... out of the way i communicate....i will communicate sooner, be more prepared and just relax a bit more. this trip isn't really a vacation, we're going up for a wedding that eric and the girls are all in, but it will be a good time to slow down and get back into a mellow groove as a family.
okay, i better start now rather than wait until we hit the pacific northwest. back to packing in a relaxed fashion. slowly. breathe.
