two things.

one: always double check to make sure your blender is properly and securely assembled BEFORE adding ingredients and picking it up to blend. believe me, i learned the very messy way this morning.

two: [piece from doug copp's article on the 'triangle of life']"If you are in bed during the night and an earthquake occurs, simply roll off the bed. A safe void will exist around the bed. Hotels can achieve a much greater survival rate in earthquakes, simply by posting a sign on the back of the door of every room telling occupants to lie down on the floor, next to the bottom of the bed during an earthquake." i received this in an email from one of my sister in laws, who i am pretty sure doesn't read this blog, do you britt?? how's that for getting an answer to one of *those* questions that keeps you up at night! now i can rest easy, roll off the bed and survive sans pants.

  1. I've done that with the blender before. It's annoying to clean up, but it's also sort of fun. It makes me think of those commercials for face wash where the women throw water EVERYWHERE. It would require so much work to clean up after that every time you washed your face, but at the same time it's just so much fun.

  4. number one: yes. when gilly was a tiny newborn in a front pouch, i made a rad lentil dal for dinner and i wanted it smoother than it cooked up so i put it in the blender (my submersible stick blender had recently bit the dust). i poured all this boiling stuff in the carafe and then i picked it up and the whole bottom fell out all over me and the sling. i was glad he was tucked down so deeply in there because he was fine.
