...as we are spending part of it on the road again. just like the song, only the 'just can't wait' part is questionable. what's that they say about home being where the heart is but happiness is where your friends are? we do love this kindred friendship found up in the high desert (who we only get to see a couple times a year) and thankfully we also adore our friends back home. home. our home. our dog. our chickens. our forest. our ocean. our rhythm. leaving isn't so terrible, just a tad bittersweet.
thank you for a wonderful holiday week!
we will miss you s.p, smx3k, e & i !!!
these words crossed my path a few weeks ago and you are who came to mind:
"When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares." ~ Henri Nouwen
so so so much laughter with a few seasons of tears and everything in between. we have each had our turn listening, sharing, giving and receiving. many 'new years' brought in together. year after year of life lived fully together (full, even when we all stand in line each looking at something different on our phones waiting for a movie) with many more to come and for that i am thankful.
"though miles may lie between us, we're never far apart, for friendship doesn't count the miles, it's measured by the heart."
(that's your queue to tilt your head to the side, pout out your bottom lip & think 'awww...')
happy new year beautiful you. 2011 had many valleys in it for my little family, but one of the sweet highs was meeting you in person. here's to a bright beautiful 2012 and seeing you again. xo
ReplyDeleteHaPpY NeW yEaR, sweet sarah! may your 2012 be filled with laughter, love, light & joy. we hope to see more of you & your little ladies in the new year! xoxo
ReplyDeleteJust now reading this. I feel blessed beyond measure by our friendship. You guys are such a bright spot in our lives. It was good (as always)to be with you. It's a pretty awesome thing to have a friendship that has lasted through so many peaks and valleys: one in which we can be completely comfortable in silence, laughter and tears (I think we did all three this week). I have a lump in my throat from your post. Love you guys so much. Happy New Year!
