my dear daughters had asked me to grow out my hair a few months ago....i agreed, but after about 1 1/2 months of wearing a hat EVERYDAY i just couldn't take it anymore. so i cut my hair.
this morning in the car elli asked, "hey mom, you growin' your hair?" i replied, "nope." she went on to tell me how my hair was growing long in the back....i felt....and to my dismay the beginnings of an 'oh so slight' rat-tail. "AHH!" i exclaim, "do i have a rat-tail?" they all agree....yes, the beginnings. so i decide right away... while i am in my weight watchers meeting (i attend most every sunday morning, even though i have been a "lifetime member" for over a year)anyway, decided i would sneak into the back grab a scissors and snip the little pest away. now while i am in the meeting my family members are seriously discussing weather i will remember to trim my hair or not.
so i get in the car, we are heading to church. we travel for about 5 minutes or so....the girls let me know they have a song for me. to the tune of, well, happy birthday.....
happy birthday to you!
you live in a zoo!
you *still* have your rat-tail!!!
and we still love you!!
how could i not have my little knitting scissors with me!!!!
i get over it and figure, no one will notice. we take the girls to sunday school. eric and i go in and sit in front of a good friend of ours. 3 minutes and she STROKES THE RAT-TAIL (knowing me well enough that it wasn't supposed to be there....she, too, has rat-tail phobia) !!!! i get up instantly. leave the service. go in so many rooms looking for a scissors....end up on the other side of our church in the children's building trying not to look too suspicious, uncover a scissors, cut my hair, walk out quickly and let the rat-tail fly to the wind.
what a morning.
(sorry, absolutely NO photos available. HA!)
