::unschooling::

our week has been full of hammock reads, library visits, stories on the sofa, telling of our own stories and dreaming of what is to come that could make a good story. we had grandma visiting, so heard lots of stories from her life and memories of grandpa john. we've spent lots of time playing with toys, building our own toys [like cardboard skate parks, a robot man costume, bookmarks and spy tools], riding bikes, exploring in the woods, and gallivanting around san francisco.
we spent the week typing, reading, learning new drawing techniques, map making, playing, cleaning, hiking, swimming, cutting, taping, beading, running, talking, planning, dressing up, imagining, crying, laughing, breathing.
they played 'school'. oceans the teacher , elli and phoenix are students and i am the principal [my job, designed by them, was to sit and knit while i watched them "do school"]. they got to have lunch outside after riding their bikes on the driveway. gathered apples from the tree and checked on their apple boobie trap to make sure no one has been stealing.
sounds like a fun day at school to me.

  1. so cute - my kids played school the other night too while i knit and thought, "haven't you had enough school?" but no. aidan loves his extra homework and made several homework folders with his room number on the cover. :) looks like you're getting a head start on your monthly report.
