finished, (actually) blocked & wove in ends with time to spare. i had a self imposed deadline for this darling little clapo-ktus. here are my very few pattern notes over on ravelry. i knit with dream in color baby lace 100% merino wool on size US 3 24 inch circular needles. i tried to link to the dream in color website, but it looks like they are under construction. it's a hearty lace weight yarn. i would most definitely knit with it again and i will! i have a skein of mustardy/pink and some left of this maroony/purple that eric brought home to me after a trip to stumptown a year or so ago where he popped into twisted as to surprise me with yarn sweetness upon return (that's a good husband right there). something i love about this little shawl/scarf is how open ended it is. you can use any yarn and any needle size. of course it would look different with a bulkier yarn, but the pattern is such that you can make it whatever size you wish with whatever supplies you have. it knits from corner to corner sideways. the fun really comes when you have increased as big as you want the point to be and start decreasing, that's when you start dropping stitches making the lace-like effect. though i would recommend taking the time to unravel all the stitches as you go verses waiting til the end. i left them waiting about a quarter of the way finished and i think it took longer, maybe it just felt like it took longer. either way, i recommend unraveling as you go.
something else i love about a knit like this: it's so simple that wishes and dreams get woven in with each stitch. there isn't much thinking involved, so it's wherever your mind might take you for the one whom it will wrap around. it carries hopes & strength, balance & peace, prayers & blessing, joy & wisdom. it carries motherhood, sisterhood, friendship and support.
that, i really love about a knit like this.
it is so beautiful! you are so beautiful! and so talented! i seriously love this shawl/scarf. and i love this post. and i love you.
ReplyDeleteI love that pattern. I started it once or twice, but it wasn't giving me the look I was going for. I think I'm going to give it another go. :)
ReplyDeleteoops, I've only ever tried Clapotis -- I love the shape of the one you made. Maybe I'll try that pattern instead.
