solstice to solstice [summer.3-13 & prompt s.4-13]

"Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability." ~Sam Keen

no matter how i tried i could not get my solstice to solstice post out on thursday. sometimes i think to find a moment in which i choose to sit at the computer, let my thoughts ruminate or even just upload a photo or two, even this, is a sweet moment of laziness. a moment where laziness has found respectability: when we take time to sit on the back porch for a spell, around the fire or simply for a few stitches or swig of water, do nothing. in my mind, summer is about finding and creating those moments of beautiful nothing. mornings to sleep in. an open calendar day. all day at the lake with the only responsibility being apply more sunscreen and keep the water bottles handy.

the lazy days of summer are not in our cards until mid august so this was an ironic word for me here and now. barely a moment to even consider the laziness of summer. in the morning when i rise i think, tonight before bed i will laze about in this or that way but i just fall asleep.
come august...come august...come august...we will have some lazy days.

in the meantime i watch this rocker sit in the middle of camp. taking in the sounds, smells and sights of a summer camp and campers and staff whirring around it. i have yet to see anyone (be able to) take a moment to sit and rock. it's funny to me. in my mind it screams lazy summer yet it too will have to wait.

. . . . . . . . . .

the solstice to solstice project word for summer week 4 is color !
