this weekend has and will continue to be spent sitting.
sitting by the river with dear friends for the last time before they travel for ten weeks.
sitting in the stands at a high school homecoming football game where the home teams takes the game with a clean sweep & we are graced with a streaker with 3.5 minutes left in the last quarter.
sitting on the rowing machine at the gym for two sets of a quick 250 meters while everyone else on the team does some other full body get all sweaty exercise (then get up and do the other 5 stations while someone else rows...even my girl El! she stepped in to even out the teams, taking her own turn sitting on the row machine!)
sitting in the car four plus hours, driving to celebrate 13, 15 and 40 years of three sweet souls, listening to an audio book, listening to my girls, watching two nap.
sitting at a busy bustling playground waiting, watching, knitting, snacking, reading, enjoying the
moment.
sitting in the dugout while everyone steps up to bat during the birthday baseball game, (getting up to take my turn as slugger & out-field).
sitting on the sofa to watch a movie with my girls & knit a gift for a friend.
sitting sitting sitting among other things, but focused on the sitting with all the rest and relaxation that comes with that simple choice.
i surely enjoyed this sitabout with you....
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. Sitting. What a beautiful thing. As I ran around the house today getting ready for guests and family to arrive, I thought about how I rarely sit these days. Movement is constant. Chasing toddler. Bouncing baby. On and on. This was a good reminder to make time for the sitting. Maybe I will get up at 3am by myself to just sit and knit. :)
