"Clutter and mess show us that life is being lived... Tidiness makes me think of held breath, of suspended animation... Perfectionism is a mean, frozen form of idealism, while messes are the artist's true friend. What people somehow forget to mention when we are children was that we need to make messes in order to find out who we are and why we are here." ~Anne Lamott
a sliver of our creative, messy, imperfect (imperfectly wonderful) life.
i need this reminder when the
we will still do our 20 minute tidies.
but we are each artists and messes are our friends.
messes are our friends. . . messes are our friends. . . messes are our friends. . . messes are our friends. . .
oh. so. true.
ReplyDelete[i wonder why i don't remember anne lamott writing this....i love her books and her scattered brutally honest way of thinking and speaking.]

ReplyDeleteHello I followed you here from flickr (skygypsy) :) I love anne lamott too and don't remember ever reading this either, but it spoke to me with joy and a HALLELUJAH b/c I weekly battle the monsters of chaos but living spreads itself out and I've been thinking lately all the design magazines and perfect pictures on pinterest are just as toxic as women's fashion magazines, a frozen photoshopped moment in time, and not an ideal we should compare ourselves to. perhaps an active chaos is love in motion...
