we've had a lot of out and about this past week. actually, it's been exactly one full week since we've had one full day at home. this morning as i went into the messy kitchen to bake some scones as to wake the girls with a yummy fragrance wafting through the house i realized i forgot the most important item on our quick stop at the store last night. dishwasher detergent. we were en route to home, anticipating the one full day at home...i was hurrying, wanting to just.be.home. and simply forgot. though, now i know what it was that i couldn't remember as i was walking from aisle to aisle thinking, 'there was something else...' i sighed at the thought of driving to town, sulked a little with all the dirty dishes on the counter and the truth of how much time it would take me to wash them all. i began to feel a little blue. i can snap myself out of something like that pretty fast.* the gift of dirty dishes, feeding my family, food on the table, containers covered in sand after picnics on the beach...that's not going to get me down. oh. no. way. so i took action: rinsed and organized, emptied the dishwasher and filled it back up, started the warm water running, added soap and got my hands working. scones were made, the sink filled back up and a message sent to the mister to pick up dishwasher detergent so i can start it when he gets home.

blue has been coming into view, but i'm intentionally keeping the feeling at bay.

*[though there are seasons where the glass is half empty, generally the glass is half full. so full in fact one time i felt i was finding the silver lining around every cloud so much that i intentionally decided to look for the muck. we went to disneyland and i chose to look for all the crying children, fighting families, and sad faces i could in the happiest place on earth (can we say drag?) snapped out of that pretty fast too.]
