this weekend holds birthday celebrations! though our plans to be away & camping went kaput there will be relaxing and focused family time.
our Elli turns 12 and she shares her birthday with a dear friend who happens to be our neighbor right now (hi Orion!) so they have some plans up their sleeves on how to make the day special for both of them, together. yesterday i heard rock climbing, pond & pool swimming, maybe funoeing, book reading in the trees, tamales, ice cream and a convertible ride. tomorrow we will see what comes to fruition. i know there will be 12's hanging from the ceiling, morning birthday songs to wake our sleeping beauty (she could sleep til noon...), watermelon & donuts with breakfast, hopefully lots of neon (she loves neon) and a whole lot of love, story telling, reminiscing & smooches.
other friends are celebrating their birthdays as well. a sweet family of four all travel to the midwest over the summer months when their birthday's happen. they are throwing a family birthday party to celebrate with west coast friends. this is the bright side of our car breaking down and our camping trip canceled, we get to see them and 'party hardy'.
and really, regardless of any weekend details,
the bottom line is we are going to soak it in.
