{ w e e k e n d i n g }

sifting through all my yarn hoping to cast something on for my soon to be 8 year old (monday! my baby turns eight on monday!)  even she said the sock i made looked a little wonky, something like the yellow submarine or the totoro cat bus, but not in a way to keep it and knit the other one.

she guessed they were for her and in her sweet nonchalant way affirmed, "you can give me something in the works mom."

thanks sweetie, i'll do that...
so like her to want something handmade and to be so easy going.

we are having a little party with swinging through the trees, hiking, lemonade, brownies and tag.
then dinner with nana & papa.  pasta with parmesan, that's all she wants.  she's simple like that...easy going.  (i think we'll add a little more to it...something green and something grilled).

happy weekend all!

i'll just be over here trying to keep my heart from bursting at the seams.

  1. Aw. This is beautiful. Your daughter sounds wonderful. What a beautiful example of how we should all be living: simply.

    Gorgeous shot. I absolutely love the detail and the bright bokeh green behind the darkness.

    I love reading your work and looking at your pictures.

    Happy Saturday.

    happy birthday to your sweet girl and of course happy birthing day to you, mama! my first baby recently turned 11 and it was so good and yet so bittersweet.
