solstice to solstice [summer.11-13 & quick catch up]

being away camping threw me off from blogging, thursday's are more packed than any other day of the week, this past week i simply forgot it was thursday, i forgot it was solstice to solstice and i was quite enamored by our walk through the woods. so a quick catch up:

1. the word freedom has been creatively played out through exercising confidently our unusual form of education. i've said it before, we often feel like tiny minnows swimming against a school of sharks. i had been feeling disheartened & unsupported regarding our path due to words spoken from an outside source, a source set in place because it had been deemed supportive and accepting. i felt judged, my children were judged and their unique, awesomeness not seen. i wrote these words on our board for the week as a reminder to walk in freedom, follow our path. we should all feel free to be you & me.

2. the prompt for the rest of this week is white. another repeat word.
(the repeats have been color, rest, light and white.)

3. just incase my thursday gets away from me*,
the prompt for next week (the last week of summer!**) is sweet.
it has been sweet indeed.

. . . . . . . . . .

*( i am going to post the entire list of prompts over on the flickr group just look in the group description. try as i might to keep up here each thursday, like i said, our thursdays are quite full.

**(Autumn equinox is on Saturday September 22! eep! my favorite season!!!)

  3. Sarah, i can't tell you how your words spoke to me. we homeschooled our boys way back in the day, our oldest is 31 now. i always felt i was swimming against the norm (sharks is a good word at times). i felt like our boys were always being compared to those who were in school. i could never tell if they felt threatened, because we did do some really awesome schooling, or just thought i was nuts! many times they failed to see the uniqueness and see beyond paper and pen and text scores to what we were truly after. to this day my boys/men are unique learners and unique men. not to say they have not had their struggles. you are amazing and what you are doing is amazing. i love stopping by to see what you guys are up to. and i love that your photos are bigger now!
